Abstract:
This field book contains notes on the paleontological specimen and geology of the Eastern Belt, Port Jarvis to Albany, New York taken in 23 May to 31 August 1938. Probably Devonian period. Locations Cooper visits include Point Peter, Naponoch, slope of Mount Marion, Kingston along Saw Kill, Marbletown, Falls of Onesquethaw, and other areas. Cooper describes stratigraphy of the locations, often providing color and consistency of shale in which fossils are found. Brachiopod fossils, coral beds, and other specimen are noted. Also included are several maps that are annotated and have numeric or alpha numeric codes that Cooper uses in his field notes to refer to locations. Some coordinates are included. Also includes photographs of specimens, unlabeled. Page numbers for these field notes are 1567-1695.
