Abstract:
This field book contains notes from Nelson's field work in Cuba and Jamaica from 10-30 March 1913. Cuba notes describe birds and mammals observed. Nelson notes that his colleague Sheldon collected and observed birds in Camagney. Nelson also observes birds Camagney Hotel. Nelson remarks on the abundant hutias in Camagney. Nelson also notes the Camagney region is over run with wild dogs said to be there before Spanish. Description of vegetation, birds, and elevation of Sierra Maestro are also included along with a reference to the 1906 visit by botanists Furrow and Taylor to the same ridge. Brief Jamaica notes are about mongoose and a species of hutia and include a reference to Kingston’s 1897 bird list from Jamaica.
