Abstract:
Stereo slides [stereographs] and color slides document work completed by Waldo L. Schmitt during the Smithsonian-Bredin Belgian Congo Expedition, 1955. Subject matter includes images of vegetation, a spider, plantations, oil and palm-nut factory, Ubangi women, Watusi dancers, structures in the town of Brazzaville, views of the Congo River, Leopoldville [Kisangani], Ferry of Yangambi, Stanleyville [Kinshasa], and equipment and workers at Wagenia fishery in Stanleyville. Also includes images from Paulis-Mangbetu, Goma, Cairo, and Egyptian ruins. There are duplicates.
