Abstract:
Color slides document the work of Waldo L. Schmitt during the Alaska King Crab Investigation (1940-1941). Slides are labeled with date, location, and brief description. Subject matter includes coastlines and bays; marine life including octopus, crab and other crustaceans; images of crew, equipment and methods of crab collecting; glaciers and mountains; and miscellaneous images of sights and people in California, Seattle, and other locations on the west coast of United States. Locations in Alaska and the Aleutian Islands include Canoe Bay, Pavlof Bay, Stepovak Bay, and Ketchikan.
