Black and white and color photographs document work completed by Waldo Schmitt during the Palmer Peninsula (Antarctica) Survey, 1962-1963. Some photographs (noted in description on reverse side) are from 1927. Subject matter includes icebergs and cliffs of coastlines, invertebrate marine life, informal portrait of station staff, whaling ships and whales being collected, flensing a whale, flocks of birds, aerial photographs, Waldo Schmitt at work on ship. Includes duplicates of images in various sizes. Some images come with detailed notes. Locations pictured include Argentine Island, Deception Island, and Arthur Harbor.
