The color photographs and negatives document work completed during the Smithsonian-Bredin Caribbean Expedition, 1960 [Smithsonian-Bredin Expedition to Yucatan (1960)]. Images have film developer and some caption markings on the reverse side of images. Some are color versions of black and white photographs in folders 6 and 7. Subject matter includes map of expedition route; Mayan ruins; cliffs along coastline; deck of vessel; expedition participants preparing specimens; jellyfish and sponges; and local inhabitants and their families at home and work. Locations visited during the expedition included Progresso, islands of Cozumel and Mujeres, and Ascension Bay near the coast of Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico.
