Abstract:
This field book contains field notes on birds taken from 5 October to 27 December 1980. Notes contain daily lists of various birds spotted in Virginia. Most of the birds listed were observed at Eike's home on 6207 Newman Road, Fairfax or in the surrounding area. Other locations may be included. Notes often include weather and temperature information, quantity, sometimes time spotted, and the sex of the birds. Legend on the verso of the cover: triangle -- bird seen in triangle; "s" – singing; “l” – local (as in red-shoulders); “ad” – adult; "*" -- first seen; “*” with circle – hawk after first sighting; imm – immature. Two clippings are included: death notices for Sidney Lewis, Nannie Lake McCarthy, Raymond V. Mcquillan; photo of snow owl perched atop the Justice Department, 12-11-80.
