Abstract:

The photographs document Waldo Schmitt's work in Uruguay during the Walter Rathbone Bacon Traveling Scholarship Expeditions to the East and West Coasts of South America, 1925-1927. There are no descriptions or numbers on the reverse side of images. Subject matter includes portraits of colleagues and local inhabitants (possibly family members); vistas of countryside and towns visited; shorelines of rivers; detail images of ground vegetation; ports; rocky and sandy shorelines.
