Abstract:
This item primarily consists of Bailey's field notes regarding beaver trapping in and around Allegany State Park, Huntington Forest, and Lyons Falls in New York state. The item also includes a mammal catalog for specimen no. 11360-11370. Entries include scientific name or common name, locality, and date of collection. The field book also includes a list of birds observed near Hawk Mountain, Pennsylvania and notes taken by Bailey while on a trip to the North American Wildlife Conference in Memphis, Tennessee. One drawing of a beaver trap is contained in the back of the book. Below the drawing, Bailey has written, "This is the best beaver trap I have seen, and should be borrowed for a sample. Belongs to the Humane Society at Albany."
