Abstract:
The third of five diaries document Waldo Schmitt's work during the Walter Rathbone Bacon Traveling Scholarship Expedition to the West Coast of South America, 1926-1927. The entries cover November 27, 1926 - January 16, 1927. Entries are headed by date and journal style. Subject matter covered includes personal and professional activities; accommodations (including sketches); interactions with colleagues and acquaintances (including names); collecting specimens; and locations and sites visited. A portion of the back of the diary is in Spanish. Locations include the vicinity of Chile and Valparaiso in Chile.
