This collection consists of photographs taken on the Harriman Alaska Expedition. For descriptions of the prints of paintings created during the expedition (Series 2), copy photographs and negatives (series 3), and miscellaneous records (series 4), please see the finding aid linked to in the "Related Materials" section of this collection record. Photographs were taken by one or more expedition member. Expedition members included Edward Henry Harriman, Clinton Hart Merriam, Albert Kenrick Fisher, Grove Karl Gilbert, Frederick Vernon Coville, Bernhard E. Fernow, John Burroughs, John Muir, William H. Dall, Daniel Firaud Elliot, Robert Ridgway, Louis Agassiz Fuertes, Frederick Samuel Dellenbaugh, Frederick A. Walpole, Robert Swain Gifford, and Charles Robert Knight.
