This collection consists of the field and collection notebooks of F. Raymond Fosberg from 1931-1993. The field books are numbered sequentially from volume 1 through volume 127. Two additional volumes of determinations from Colombia are also included.|Field books numbered 1 through 100 (1931-1973) contain an inserted Table of Contents listing very detailed descriptions of the books' contents, including location, collector numbers, and page numbers. Occasionally, the field books contain loose pages of notes; annotations; botanical specimens pressed between the pages; and travel ephemera such as pamphlets and maps.|Fosberg collected and documented extensively all over the world, including North America, Central America, the Caribbean, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and many Pacific Islands. His field notes were created in at least 73 countries, and 41 U.S. states.
