Description:
Deep flounce with a reseau ground has a central motif of a pedestaled vase filled with flowers flanked by a shell device connecting with interlacing branches of large flowers and leaves. On either side a canopy under which are cartouches enclosing monogram C.R. surrounded by an olive and laurel branch and above it a Cardinal's hat. A further embellishment consists of bold scrolling design from left to right and meeting in the center enriched by a variety of ornate filling stitches. Fine picoted edge and lattice heading. Possibly remade in honor of Bishop Carlo Rezzonico who later became Pope under the name of Clement XIII in 1758.
