Description:
Visualization of the human chromosome known as chromosome 21. Depicts a portion of the 50 million letters of genetic code that comprise the chromosome and was created using Java and custom code. The dark purple depicts sequences of genetic code (called exons) that are used by a cell as the set of instructions for building a protein. These instructions are interrupted by unused pieces of code (introns), which are depicted in light purple. The grey areas have no currently known function.
