Aspen Institute for Humanistic Studies 1964 Annual Report. Front and back cover, as well as interior pages, are white; endpapers are blue. Front cover: Printed in blue, vertically, along left edge: ASPEN INSTITUTE FOR HUMANISTIC STUDIES; in black, vertically, directly above: ANNUAL REPORT. Printed in black, upper left: 1964; Aspen Institute logo, a white male figure inside a blue leaf, is directly below. At right, illustration in black of man's face at top and clasped hands at bottom, both by Ben Shahn, with printed handwritten black text between: men are men / before they are lawyers / or physicians / or manufacturers; / and if you make them / capable and sensible men / they will make themselves / capable and sensible / lawyers and physicians. Shahn's artwork is from the "Great Ideas of Western Man" CCA advertisement series; the quote is from John Stuart Mill's "On the training of men."
