Description:
Blade of ax-head form, loosely triangular in shaped, wide with swirling ends on spine edge. Beveled edges surrounding border of blade. Surface gold plated and adorned with engraved Japonesque designs, starting with floral design atop a triangular pattern at tip, depiction of woman in elaborate garment shielding her face with a fan in a central reserve, and terminating in geometric pattern of circles and bowties covering the base. Reverse side of blade devoid of decoration. Banded gold plated ferrule leads to mother of pearl handle, decorated with carved diagonal fluting, slightly widenning to rounded terminal.
