Description:
Design for lighter for Diamond Match Company. Perspective in graphite and pastel on paper vellum shows rectangular gold or brass lighter with vertical chasing from bottom to two-thirds height, and from that point, gently bulging planar surface engraved with cursive letters LDF. On either side of object, spring clips run down, wrap lower corners, and terminate in small hooks that fit into recessed points on either side; unclipping these allows the user to separate lighter components and replace fuel bag; this is the crux of the object’s innovative design. On its left, object features a horizontally-ridged button that, when depressed, releases the panel at top (shown with row of dotted lines) to reveal the lighting mechanism and wick.
