Description:
Sage green clay body, thrown. Ovoid body, swelling at shoulder, short ring neck with a flat cap-like lid setting over neck. Two Japanesque swimming carp incised and modeled in low relief, and painted and incised plants decorate the body. Painted underglaze in shades of green slip in fine gradations of tone. A sweeping curved line representing a water current is painted against the sponged green ground. Clear glaze with very fine cracklature on body but not on lid. Interior glazed. Bottom not glazed.
