Description:
Recto: Virgin seated under a tree holding the Infant Jesus on her lap. Behind her is another figure, probably Saint Anne.
Verso: Right half of a scene with inv. 1947-58-5v. In the interior of a hall, an executioner, standing at left, hands a platter with the head of St. John the Baptist to Salome. At center, King Herod reclines on a couch at the head of a banqueting table. Guests recline to either side. Numerous additional figures, including soldiers, stand around the edge of the colonnaded chamber. In the left background, within another building, Salome is seen again.
