Description:
Vertical format design for a painted ceiling. The plan is an oblong with part of an octagon extending below the lower side. Outside framed by mouldings and a frieze with framed classical representations alternating with framed medallion portraits. Rinceaux connect them. The inner field is divided into an oblong and a strip framed by mouldings. In the rhomboid is a coat of arms supported by winged half-figures ending in rinceaux. Quartered shield. 1) Lion rampant 2) ? 3) Probably a dexter arm 4) Lion rampant; escutcheon of pretence. In the center of the oblong is a kind of carpet framed by an entablature shown from below, with bevelled corners. Its molded frame overlaps the verticals of four lunettes in which are represented sea deities. In the four corners are obliquely disposed niches with figures of standing women.
