Description:
A young lady standing beside a Turk tries to dissuade a petulent peddler who carries an inscribed sign. The setting is a seaside terrace; a man is seated with a monkey, left, and a group of others approach up steps from the water's edge, right. In the distance are ships. The framing is an eschutcheon formed by a stag's head and hide flanked by two snails on small mounds of turf. To right and left are bare trees, the right hand one including an owl and another bird in it. At either side of garlands from which are suspended trophies composed of the attributes of the culinary arts. A mask and festoons at bottom edge. On two pieces of paper, the central motif being cut out and pasted in an ovoid form.
