Description:
Designs for a chimney piece (fireplace, overmantel mirror, and painting above) illustrated as a detailed wall elevation with two different options in the design (split in half). The designs feature rococo ornament and motifs, with c-scrolls, rosettes, scrolling leaves (rinceaux), foliage, shells, fluting, catrouches, clasps, masks (mascaron), sprigs, palm leaves, egg and dart pattern moulding, feather, and wave motifs. The overmantel mirror is topped with a square painting of a flowering tree or shrub in a landscape, framed by ornate molding. The walls on either side of the chimney piece are decorated with plain frame molded paneling (boiserie) – large horizontal panels, with a dado level below. Below the chimney piece is a scale and a plan view of the mantel shapes and marble front hearth designs, featuring a circle in the center. The plate is numbered and signed.
