Description:
Tenth plate from a series of prints depicting the ornament and interiors of the King’s apartment at the Royal palaces of the Louvre and the Tuileries, part of the Cabinet du Roi (King’s Cabinet) series published by the Imprimerie Royale. The plate illustrates a section of the ceiling from the Gallery of Apollo at the Louvre. The ceiling features a strapwork and rosette border and ornamented with grotesque and arabesque motifs, with chickens, goats, putti, trophies winged helmets, foliage, acanthus leaves, and a central floral and acanthus leaf rosette. The plate is titled, signed, and numbered.
