Description:
Entryway and exterior elevation of the temporary structure erected on the Rue de Sève for the celebrations in honor of the marriage of Louis Dauphin and Maria Teresa of Spain given on February 23-26, 1745. The entryway has double arches and a carved scene of Bacchus and Ariadne set within an elaborate cartouche at top; the columns are covered in grape vines. The arches along the length of the structure have chandeliers positioned below satyr heads, and statues of nymphs holding aloft grains, fruit, and flowers at each end.
