Description:
Seascape sketch showing three views of an iceberg near Twillingate in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, from different angles and in various stages of disintegration. One view comprises the upper half of the composition and shows a large iceberg characterized by the bulging, cubic mass on its left side, and the lower, craggy spit of ice at right. Dark ocean waters comprise the foreground and grow lighter, into a shade of aquamarine, around the iceberg's shallows. A hazy, possibly overcast sky above. At lower left, the same iceberg floats on dark water in front of a rugged, mountainous coastline. While, at lower right, the berg, now at a greater distance, is loosely rendered beneath an overcast sky.
