Description:
Landscape and atmospheric study showing the first part of a panoramic view of the sun setting over the ocean near Ecuador. Water extends from foreground to horizon, where it meets the descending sun. Above, clouds of various colors stretch across an otherwise open sky.
Verso: Mixed studies showing multiple views of buildings and plants in Ecuador. At center, two buildings are visible, including a church dome at left. Below them, and oppositely oriented, is the top of a palm tree. Along lower margin and in lower left corner, three different plant studies are shown, including a floating plant.
