Description:
Figure and landscape sketch showing a scene of three figures--likely three boys--wearing brimmed hats on the shore of a lake or river, possibly fishing. At left, one figure stands beside and leans toward another figure next to him at right. They appear to be situated on a loosely rendered beach or shoreline. At center, another figure appears to reel in a fish with an incompletely rendered fishing rod. In the distance at upper right, trees--presumably those on the opposite shoreline--are visible.
Verso: Mixed sketches showing, at upper left, a hastily rendered view of treetops and clouds near the Catskill Mountain House; at center, a sailboat oriented to the right; and at upper center, the outline of an anthropomorphic cloud that resembles a man's face in profile.
