Description:
Mixed studies around Beirut, Lebanon showing views of a seascape and three partial figures. At left and center, a rainbow arches over the waters of the Mediterranean Sea, with a steamship floating in the foreground. At right, three unfinished studies of figures shown from the rear are visible.
Verso: Mixed studies around Beirut, Lebanon showing views of a wooden battleship firing a salute, the tops of buildings, and two studies of a man's head. At upper right, battleship, viewed obliquely, fires its cannons in salute--white, billowing smoke expands from either side of the ship. Along upper margin, two sketches of the head of a man with a long beard and a headress, viewed frontally and from behind. At lower left, a view of the tops of buildings punctuated by tall minarets is included.
