Description:
Landscape sketch showing a view of a dark and rugged mountain range in Mexico. Situated beneath a group of billowing clouds, the mountain range is cast in shadow as stretches across the horizon. A tall, triangular peak is prominently visible at center. A range of foothills, also darkened by shadow, is included in front of the range. Flat terrain comprises foreground and middle distance.
Verso: Landscape sketch showing a loosely rendered view of Toluca Valley, which is part of a panorama with 1917-4-1072-a verso. In the foreground, wooded mountainsides converge toward the center, where rugged foothills descend to a flat valley floor that extends into the distance. In the background at left, a tall, sharp peak with a long ridge is shown beside an even more distant mountain at right. Mountain at left likely Nevado de Toluca.
