Description:
Recto: Frontispiece design, with a tablet at center inscribed: “NOVA REPERTA” (the first R is corrected). The tablet is flanked at left by a compass, at right by a globe. A figure at upper right holding an ouroboros gestures with a stick towards the globe, indicating the New World. Cannons and cannonballs appear at the bottom, with distilling equipment at right. A mulberry tree—a reference to silk-making—grows over the upper rim of the center tablet. A clock appears above right, and a printing press above left. At far left is an additional figure holding an ouroboros. Verso: Blank.
