Description:
In a series of expeditions to the Arctic, Robert Abram Bartlett collected materials for various organizations. During the course of the expeditions, Waldo L. Schmitt, United States National Museum, assisted Bartlett by providing collecting equipment and analyzing the specimens collected. The Weather Bureau provided Bartlett with maps of the Arctic in exchange for current information regarding glacier movements, size and water temperature. During the 1937 voyage, Bartlett received support from the Smithsonian Institution and the Chicago Zoological Society. Equipment and training were supplied by the Hydrographic Office of the Navy, and Bureau of Fisheries. They collected specimens for the Zoological Society of Chicago, Cleveland Museum of Natural History, and Smithsonian, Department of Marine Invertebrates.
