This acrylic, rectangle-shaped sign once hung at the entrance of the Architects, Engineers, Planners, and Associates (AEPA) Washington, DC offices at 2421 Pennsylvania Avenue NW. The logo of the architectural firm’s name, a stylized abbreviation of AEPA, is printed in red acrylic adhered to the clear acrylic sign. Four holes, one in each corner, show where the sign was affixed to a wall just inside the office’s entrance.
AEPA was an architectural firm created by architect and artist Alfred Liu (1942-2021) in 1976. Though headquartered in Washington, DC, AEPA completed construction projects all over the world from the United States to China. Liu and the firm are most known locally for designing the Wah Luck House and the Chinatown Friendship Arch.
