This round pinback button encouraged voters to support John E. Warren’s candidacy for a seat in the Council of the District of Columbia. The pin features black lettering against an orange background reading “Vote / John E. Warren / Ward 6 / Sept. 14, 1982 / D. C. City Council”. Warren, who represented Ward 6 in the city’s Board of Education from 1976 through 1983, ran against incumbent councilor Nadine Winter but was defeated in the Democratic primary.
The button is among more than 200 collected by longtime Anacostia resident and social justice advocate Howard Croft.
