This round pinback button begged New Yorkers to support Al Sharpton in the 1992 US Senate election. Sharpton run unsuccessfully for the seat in 1988, 1992, and 1994. The pin reads "Al Sharpton for U.S. Senate" in red and "Please Vote Tues. Sept. 15th, 1992" in green, all against a black background.
The button is among more than 200 collected by Washington, DC-based environmental justice advocate Vernice Miller-Travis.
