This round pinback button promoted the New York City affiliate of the Black United Fund. The charity founded in 1972 raised money from the Black American community for the Black American community, in an effort to fill a gap in more traditional fundraising. The pin, in tan and brown colors, features a drawing of two arms grasping one another at the wrists.
The button is among more than 200 collected by Washington, DC-based environmental justice advocate Vernice Miller-Travis.
