Caption:
This spoon was used by kitchen staff at La Casita Pupuseria to make chicharrones and other fried foods. A widely known purveyor of pupusas and other Salvadoran dishes in the Washington, D.C. area, La Casita was founded by the Salvadoran-immigrant Arbaiza family in 2002 in Silver Spring, Maryland.
The spoon was on display at the Anacostia Community Museum's exhibition "Food for the People: Eating and Activism in Greater Washington", along with an apron (2021.4.2) and a frying pan (2021.4.7).
