Excavated by Edmond Doran (1864-1915, president of the Meteor Boat Company and involved with American Crude Oil Company) in the early 1900s; inherited by his widow Susannah (Susan) G. Meek Doran (1864-1932); purchased by MAI from Susannah Doran in 1918 using funds donated by MAI trustee James B. Ford (1844-1928).
