Collection history unknown; formerly in the collection of Marco Aurelio Soto (1846-1908, President of Honduras from 1876 to 1883); purchased by MAI from an unknown source in 1917 using funds donated by MAI trustee Harmon W. Hendricks (1846-1928). President Soto's son Maximiliano Soto (1881-1957) came to the U.S. in 1905 and lived in New York and may have inherited his father's collection.
