Excavated in 1887 by members of the Hemenway Southwestern Expedition, led by anthropologist Frank Hamilton Cushing (1857-1900); part of the collection of the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology, Harvard University, until 1905 when it was acquired by George Heye through an exchange with the Peabody Museum.
