Acquired between 1930 and 1960 by Bernard S. Mason (1896-1953, author of books on Indian crafts, an active supporter of camping and "Indian lore" as educational experiences, and director of Camp Kooch-i-ching, Rainy Lake, Minnesota); bequeathed or given to his friend John Landis Holden (1922-1998, also a camping enthusiast and subsequent director of Camp Kooch-i-ching); donated to NMAI by John L. Holden in 1991.
