Obtained from a Lipan Apache boy at Fort Clark, Texas in 1873 by Lieutenant John A. McKinney (1846-1876, U.S. Cavalry); given by Lieutenant McKinney to Hortense Darling Beaumont (1866-1959), who was the daughter of Colonel Eugene Beaumont (1837-1916, U.S. Cavalry); inherited by her daughter, Margaret R. Elliott (1887-1976); purchased by MAI from Miss Elliott in 1963.
