Said to have been brought to Wisconsin by the Stockbridge Mahican, probably before 1840; collected from Harriet Quinney (Stockbridge Mahican, 1844-1925, a daughter of the artist) in 1923 by Alanson B. Skinner (1886-1925, MAI staff member) when he was on the staff of the Milwaukee Public Museum (Milwaukee, Wisconsin); acquired by MAI through an exchange with the Milwaukee Public Museum in 1925.
