Said to have been found almost buried in the ground at an unknown date; formerly in the collection of José Pinto (a resident of São Miguel); acquired from him in 1904 by Guilherme Giesbrecht (1866-1957, a German-born Brazilian engineer); purchased from Guilherme Giesbrecht by Marshall H. Saville (1867-1935, MAI staff member) in 1922 using funds donated by MAI trustee James B. Ford (1844-1928).
