Handwritten note on verso reads: Sailor's drug store; a few steps from the water front, on the corner of Christopher and Washington Streets stands McAvoy's drug store. Miss McAvoy, the proprietor, is a white haired lady who has managed it since the beginning of the century and is a great favorite among the sea-faring men who have patronized McA's since its origin. Miss M. fills prescriptions, sells tobacco, and is the local public stenographer. She also features a counter where the children of the district wait on themselves.
