Summary:
The Jorge J.E. Gracia and Lynette Bosch interviews with Cuban American artists measures 0.4 linear feet and date from 2004-2010. Included are digital video recordings and digital transcripts of 32 interviews with Cuban American artists conducted by Gracia and Bosch intended to create a record of these artists. Recordings include a sample of each artist's work.
Artists interviewed include Gustavo Acosta, José Bedia, Mario Bencomo, Maria Brito, Humberto Calzada, Ramón Carulla, Harols Coego, Demie, Carlos Estévez, Emilio Falero, Julio Ferrer, José Franco, Enrique Gay-Garcia, Eladio Gonzalez, Victor Manuel González, Gory (Rogelio López Marin), Jorge Guitart, Juan Carlos Llera, Rafael López-Ramos, Carlos Luna, José Martínez de Valdivielso, Alejandro Mendoza, Glexis Novoa, Natasha Pordomo Bermúdez, Guilliermo Portieles, Alberto Rey, Arturo Rodríguez, Baruj Salinas, Paul Sierra, Rafael Soriano, Tonel, and Pedro Vizcaíno.

Biography Note:
Jorge J. E. Gracia (1942- ) is a professor at the University of Buffalo, Buffalo, New York. Lynette Bosch (1952- ) is a professor at SUNY, Geneseo, New York. A project, under the direction of Gracia and Bosch that included the interviews, was intended to illustrate how different artists have dealt with issues of immigration, diaspora, and memory in their art and lives, and to serve as the basis of a philosophical reflection on issues raised by how they have negotiated their identities as Cubans, Americans, and Cuban Americans. The project began as a seminar, Negotiating Identities in Art Literature, and Philosophy: Cuban Americans and American Culture, sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities at the University of Buffalo in 2006.
