Biography Note:
The Society of American Fakirs was a group formed out of the Art Students League of young artists dedicated to parodying the works of their teachers and other established artists. From 1891 to 1914 they produced an exhibit of comedic fakes based on works exhibited in the annual Society of American Artists/National Academy of Design exhibition.
