Biography Note:
Art society; New York, N.Y. Est. 1915. Founded in cooperation with the Brooklyn Museum as The Brooklyn Society of Etchers. In 1921, the organization moved to Manhattan and changed its name to The Society of American Etchers; in 1947, it expanded to include lithographers and woodcutters, with a subsequent change of name to The Society of American Etchers, Gravers, Lithographers and Woodcutters. Since 1951 known as The Society of American Graphic Artists.
