UNMICROFILMED (10 ft.): Biographical material, including resumes, biographies, awards, a will and passports; letters, 1927-1985 (0.5 ft.) from Wayne Andersen, Kenneth Callahan, Joseph Campbell, Herman Cherry, Katharine Kuh, Albert and Vera List, Eleanor Ward, Philip Guston, Sam Hunter, Albert Elsen, Robert Gwathmey, and museums, galleries, schools and foundations; business records, 1950-1985; 2 diaries and a journal, 1927 and undated and 1 diary of Lillian Lipton's, undated; art works, 1917-1928, including 8 paintings, 1 print, and 37 drawings; a medal designed by Lipton for Art in America, 1961; writings, 1927-1985 (2 ft.), including drafts and typescripts for "Beauty - the Invisible Bridge," many short essays on art and aesthetics and writings on Lipton by Fred Licht, Harry Rand, Sam Hunter and Roberta K. Tarbell; notes; interviews of Lipton, 1960-1968, conducted by Tal Streeter, Karlis Osis, Dorothy Seckler and Sevim Fesci; a book, "Art as Experience," by John Dewey, Minton, Balch & Company, New York, 1934, heavily annotated by Lipton; and other printed material, 1927-1988 (3 ft.), including magazines, museum and gallery bulletins, clippings, exhibition announcements and catalogs; subject files, 1954-1984, containing letters, printed material, business records and writings on Lipton's films "Archangel" and "Sculpture by Lipton," the Jewish Museum, Marlborough-Gerson Gallery, and the Mint Museum;
Also included are audio visual material, 1949-1972 (1 ft.), including two 16mm motion picture films "Archangel" and "Sculpture by Lipton," produced by Nathan Boxer; 5 reels of 8mm home movies; 3 video tapes of Lipton in his studio and with his family; 3 unidentified taped interviews; and 4 phonograph albums, including 1 of the Mike Wallace program and 3 copies of a film strip with accompanying phonograph record called "Famous artists at work"; and photographs, slides, and negatives (1.5 feet) of art works, portraits of Lipton, the Lipton family, Lipton in his studio, and Lipton with his art works. Also included is the book "Art As Experience," by John Dewey, (New York: Van Rees Press, 1934) heavily annotated by Lipton.
