Summary:
34 drawings by Charles Reinhart done in pencil, pen, white chalk and gouache. They are chiefly of figures but also include a few landscape sketches. Inscriptions were added by Margaret Mellor Risk ("Auntie Peg"), great niece of the artist. Also included is a sketchbook by Reinhart drawn while in Paris which contains quick sketches, notes on paintings, and notes of sources of historic costumes. The other sketchbook is by Edwin A. Abbey and is signed, "Edwin A. Abbey, New York, exchanged with C.S. Reinhart." This sketchbook, too, contains sketches from Paris and was apparently traded for Reinhart's own Paris sketchbook.

Provenance:
Margaret Mellor Risk, great niece of the artist, gave these drawings to her sister, Laura Gault McKean. Mrs. McKean divided them among her three children: Robert Mellor Gault, Louise Mellor Gault, and another son. Louise gave her share to her brother, Robert, who lent this collection for filming. He is a great-great nephew of the artist.
