Hodgkins Prize Papers Submitted for the 1893 Competition: In most cases each folder contains both correspondence and a copy of the intended prize essay. Some contain drawings, photographs, or copies of an author's other works. Some essays were returned at the author's request. Authors' names have been supplied when they could be determined with certainty. The rules of the competition allowed contestants to enter under a pseudonym; and some are listed here using that name, since no real name could be found. There is also a register of Hodgkins Fund correspondence, circa 1893-1897, in series 5.
